Question about Logray

Post  EwokWizard on Wed 17 Aug 2011, 6:55 pm

It says on the Wookieepedia page for Logray that he turns toward the dark arts later in his life and eventually is cast out of the village.
Whatsup with that? I was alarmed when I saw this since he never acts like that on the cartoon. Does anyone know what this is from?

The problem with all those wiki pages is that anyone can alter them. There certainly wasnt anything in the movie or animated series to support those claims. Its possible that it comes from a comic or something, but I'm not familiar with them. If it cant be established with a source, I'd say its BS.

So, I did some more checking and apparently that info is from an RPG sourcebook or one of the Essential guides or something. Obviously the person was not a big Ewoks fan since this change in character is totally inconsistent with the way Logray is on the show.

Well, those arent even canon, right? I pretty much ignore that type of stuff anyway. The movies, tv movies, and cartoon are all that really matter for me.

"Master Logray? I don't believe it!"- Wicket,The Cries of The Trees

NO. Our lovable, wise Master Logray would never go to the dark arts. Remember that time he beat old Morag? Or him fighting tooth and nail to protect the young ones? Or the happy friendship he had with Teebo? The cartoon, Ewok books, movies, etc always depict Logray as a kind and benevolent old shaman, and one who was very much in tune with the life force of Endor. Some RPG sources depict him as senile and evil, but after all, much of the Star Wars universe is left up to conjecture and is not cannon. Thus, Logray is, in my opinion, a wise and crafty old Ewok who loves life and his tribe, especially the young ones. He would NEVER go evil! (He better not, he perches on my desk at school!)

"And that is how Morag's life force returned to the forest, where it became, in the end, a thing of beauty!"- Logray, "Sunstar vs. Shadowstone

Apparently one of the things that was cited for this alledged "dark arts" was the idea of roasting and eating Chewie, Luke, Han and Leia in ROTJ. But honestly, I think that falls in with all the other differences between the movie ewoks and the cartoon ones.

"Soylent Green is PEOPLE!"

I agree. But until you've actually tasted broiled Jedi, smuggler and Wookie, don't knock it! apprently Wookies taste a lot like chicken. And who doesn't like chicken? Rottiserie style no less!
But yeeah. Those are the kind of actions that got Logray's name associated with the "Dark Arts." think of that next time you fire up the old grill for some bbq chicken. Or get KFC. LOL. I still must insist that Logray was not evil. He helped Cindel. He even helped Mace (Mace needed help!) and had pity on Morag. Logray was a good 'un allright. Smile

By the way, Ewok Wizard, have you seen the first season episode "The Curse of the Jindas"? Logray plays an important role in that one, and it shows him with Teebo working their magic. Smile

Is this different than the episode where Latara joins the Jinda's?

Yes ideed. In "Curse of the Jindas", you find out why the Jindas are wandering nomads! Logray helps them.
