Ewoks - The Movies Empty Ewoks - The Movies

Post  shmashwitdaclub Fri 16 Apr 2010, 9:27 pm

Well, I saw that there was a section on this site for just about everything else - so I thought I would make an Ewok movie thread!

I loved these movies so much that I wore the VHS tape out when I was a kid. I loved me some Ewoks - I loved me some Gorax - and I loved me some Sanyassan Marauders! Who else is with me!?!?

I am 29 years old now and I have a 6.5 year old son who also loves these movies - we both would love figures of the characters made in this movie. How awesome would it be to have an army of Sanyassans? Very Happy

Well, there is some good news finally for all of us fans that have been waiting forever - Teek and Kaink, though not a very good one of the later, are on the way - and supposedly Chukha-Trok is tooled up.

So, who do you think we can expect next from the films? Dare we start a campaign for a Wilford Brimley action figure?!?!

Ewoks - The Movies Empty Ewok movie figures

Post  Chukha-Trok76 Thu 10 Jun 2010, 1:32 am

Gyah, I want Chukha-Trok! I had to make myself one 2 summers ago out of sheer lack of Chukha. It's good to finally have Teek and Kaink (AKA Keoulkeech from the Wal-Mart Ewok comic 3-pack). I like the idea of soft goods hoods, but her ears don't fit in the ear holes. Also they forgot her dress and staff, so I made the staff for her. The dress is forthcoming. I'm thrilled C-Trok might finally see the light of day! And I agree whole heartedly on the Maurader figures. It's be so cool to have King Terak with his sword and battle gear, the little general fella with his gun and his battle horn, and Charal the Nightsister with her cloak or stallion and an alternate raven form! Noah with his hat, power cell, and staff would be cool too. I also want Deej, Wicket's dad with the White wings of Hope and his hunting knife and horn. Weechee and Widdle could come with their wings, and why not a Blurrg for the Maurader's to ride? and..oh, why not throw Mace in too. With his gun.
I've seen a custom, to scale Gorax figure someone made. If I were a 2.5 inch Ewok, I'd be terrified!

I was really excited when these were released on DVD because before that, the only place that had them was the library! I loved these movies as a kid, and I still enjoy them now - I was so happy to get a Teek figure, especially after customizing a Cindel and Noa! But I agree that they should make more figures from both movies.

Post  Zutton79 Thu 05 Aug 2010, 8:37 pm

Great films. I had vhs copies of them taped from the original TV broadcast when I was a kid and watched them all the time. I used to pretend that my Nikto and Klaatu figures were marauders. Luke X-wing was Mace and Leia endor without the poncho was the mom. I never did have a stand in for Cindel LOL. On a similar side note I used to pretend that my Kea Moll figure was Oola and would chain her to Jabba's throne!! Hey she was a girl and had a green outfit Very Happy Uncle Gundy was Uncle Owen many a time as well.

Anyway back to the Ewok movies, I always wished that they made figures for these films. Cindel, Mace, Even their parents would be cool. Star cruiser, Bora, Gorax etc. The only thing that bothered me about the movies was that Logray looked completely different than in ROTJ...I still don't get that! scratch

Haha! I used to pretend my skiff guards were Marauders as well. Well, they've made a sort of (?) Kaink...and Chukha-Trok is coming out soon as well. I think it will only be a matter of time before Lucasfilm and Hasbro cave and do the Towani's and others from the Ewok movies. After all, if they made Yarna (which is cool, don't get me wrong) and Willrow Hood, who I still don't know about, they'll eventually do other, obscure fan choices like the Towani's, Mace, Cindel, Noah and the Marauders.
Ewok fans and fans in general are usually good at making our voices heard, and Hasbro has been listening! Thanks Hasbro! And who knows, they might get sick of people clammouring for Jocasta Nu and that Mon Cal dancer. Although I personally don't see why. lol.

I still love the Ewoks movies - when I was a kid, I thought the Blurrgs were from Land of the Lost or something! I continue to customize characters from these movies, because I doubt Hasbro will make any of them other than the Ewoks, but one can hope! I'm still shocked that I have an official Teek figure. Razz

Hopefully nothing within the SW universe is too obscure enough for them not to make into action figures and playsets eventually, though we might be old folks by the time they do!

I remember seeing the Ewok movies reran on TV throughout the years of being a kid, and I bought the DVD as soon as it came out. Like I've said before, these shows feel more like SW to me than the prequels, and I often have these on; they're too enjoyable!

I've customized several of the characters from these movies, but hopefully we'll receive more in the future, other than Teek and Kaink - though Kaink is based on her Disney appearance, and isnt the Ewoks movie version. Hasbro had Chukha-Trok planned, so hopefully he will still be coming out - we have to be vocal about their release. Wink

Those are really good customs! I've got no talent at that type of stuff, but I sure can appreciate others who do.

Ewoks - The Movies Empty Re: Ewoks - The Movies

Post  Chukha-Trok76 Wed 29 Jun 2011, 1:56 am

I showed the school aged children at the daycare where my mom works, "Caravan of Courage yesterday." They all really like it when I stop by and I have my Ewoks or am wearing my Wicket shirt. Having worked with grade school kids for six years before leaving to return to academia myself, I can see why Ewoks and Star Wars are still so popular!
Anyways, most of them had never seen the Ewok movies, so they were thrilled and in awe of "Caravan." They liked Cindel, they thought Mace was a durp, they thought Izrina and her Wisties were cute, Wicket was adorable, and the Gorax was terrifying. Laughing
Then they got to see the brave Ewok woodsman, Chukha-Trok. He was so brave! The kids loved Chukha-Trok! He always charged in first. He always rushed to the rescue. He had a great laugh! And he was a brave and loyal friend to everyone in the party, even to Mace (who really needed a role model to look up to).
Then came the epic stand against the Gorax! Chukha charged in yet again, giving his friends time to escape. The kids were on the edge of their seats! Then...
"Kevin?...He's not *dead* is he?"
"He's gonna get up...right?"
"But...he's Chukha-Trok."
Then when Mace says to Deej, "Yes. He's dead. He died for all of us." Boy! Were those kids sad. Crying or Very sad
They loved the reunion scene when Jeremitt and Catarine are together with the kids, and the party at the Warrick hut. When Jeremitt tells Deej, "We are two...very lucky fathers!" Smile And they had tears when Mace tells Izarina goodbye. Kids know, saying goodbye to a friend is never easy. And they loved the ending.
"Reunited, the families enjoy the simple pleasures ofbeing together, having learned something they already knew-- that courage, loyalty and love... are the strongest forces in the universe." Happy Ewok

Thats great that you are passing the Ewok movies on to another generation. I've watched a number of 80s movies with my nephews and they loved them...we havent watched the Ewok movies yet, mostly old Jim Henson stuff, like the Storyteller, Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, etc. But we've also covered 80s classics like the Goonies, ET, Neverending Story, etc... Very Happy

Finally got around to showing my nephew one of the Ewoks movies - we watched Battle for Endor, and he loved it! I started with that one first because I wanted to tie it to the CW series by showing him the Blurrgs that appear in the movie and in the cartoon. The movie really kept his attention and he continued to talk about it afterward. Very Happy

Here are my kids watching Caravan of Courage a few weeks ago. They loved it!

The 7 year old and 5 year old are all into Ewoks so on the 4th of July we watched Return of the Jedi while my littleest one took his nap.

With all the talk about the upcoming Ewok multi pack I can't help but think an Ewok Movie Caravan of Courage multi pack would be cool.

Tell me Chukha-Trok, Cindel, Mace, Deej, and a remade Kaink wouldn't be neat? May never happen but if it does I know I would want one.

HA! I DO remember the original intros, thank you for sharing these with us. Yeah, "very intese scenes," like when Jeremitt, Catarine, and poor Mace get blown into oblivion by the Marauders? I remember that was sad. Sad And I remember during the intro to "The Ewok Adventure" really likeing the Ewok with the axe already, before I'd even learned about him or that his name was Chukha-Trok. Good times, good times.

I watched Caravan of Courage with my kids this past weekend in honor of the anniversary.

I would love to see it re-released on DVD with behind the scenes footage by Eric Walker and Warick Davis.

Yub yub! I showed this to my friend's 15 year old son who loves the Ewoks. It's weird to think that 30 years have passed since Caravan first aired on ABC. And all these years later, Ewoks are still popular. Happy Anniversary, Wicket!
