Star Wars Fans' Choice Poll 2011

Here we go! Please submit your top 10 most wanted figures ranked in order of importance. The results will be sent in by the 28th of September. If you want to nominate your top 10 right here, but haven't registered in the forums yet, it's really very quick and easy to register. Your second option to get your votes in is to e-mail them to droidsandewoks@gmail.com
Feel free to discuss your favorites as well but most importantly, get those votes in!

A note on the above figure choices. While I think it would be great to get some more animated characters like Morag, Jann Tosh, Jessica Meade, or a Dulok, I think we'd have better luck voting for figures they'd be more likely to consider. We know they have already produced Kneesaa and Chukha-Trok. If we all vote for them, they'll be that much more likely to release them soon, unlike the ill-fated second series of Ewoks and Droids figures that never saw store shelves. Teebo seems a likely choice for a re-do, as do Oochee and Widdle, since they are supposedly already sculpted for that Ewok multi-pack we'll probably never see. So individuals on cards might be nice. Deej and Weechee are two I hope for as well as a female Ewok (Shodu??) and another wokling in basket (Winda??). For the last two, I just chose two Ewoks who are named and on the CCG that have never seen the light of day as figures, Rabin, the Ewok "tamer of beasts," and Wuta, a village elder. Rabin could come with his weapon and an Endor critter like a geejaw or a rugger!

Good picks! Is the Barada that you nominated an update of the POTF2 figure or a different character? Also, is the Klaatu that you nominated this guy?

Yep, you got them both right. Barada is an update of the 1999 figure and the Klaatu Skiff is the very same as that Sigma porcelain figurine.

Thanks! I've always wanted to call that Klaatu the "Sigma Klaatu," since he appeared as a Sigma porcelain figure and a figural mug back in 1983 and then totally dropped off the map; but I never thought I would be able to get the name to stick.

I didnt even know we were taking email submissions - that totally throws off the vote, because non-members can radically alter the results. Not to mention, the same person can send nominations from multiple email accounts. If the vote was limited to registered users, I think we'd see more Droids characters...

Good point darth_sidious! (Gee you don't hear me say that phrase often, do you?) I agree though. I think we should keep it to forum members only. Allowing email submissions will radically alter the final result. Just saying.

Sorry you guys don't like it but it is as it is. There are many different ways that sites are going about this. Personally, I like what Yakface.com is doing. I could have gone with that approach and accepted only nominations from the Droids and Ewoks cartoons. I would have preferred this but did not do it as it would seem to say that my preferences are superior to someone else's. And they are not. It's just plastic Star Wars that we're talking about here after all. The main reason that I decided to go the way that I did is because not everyone wants to be on forums. I have been in this hobby since 1983 and was buying figures on the very day that they came out in 1995. I followed collecting sites for years but did not join any forums for a long time because they didn't appeal to me. I would have been glad to vote for a fan's choice figure but at that time had no desire to be a part of a forum. My older brother has been a Star Wars fan as long as I have but has never been a part of a forum. My three sons are bigger Star Wars fans than I am but have never asked to be part of a forum. Being part of a forum or not does not make anyone less or more of a fan, neither does it make their opinion less valid. Frankly, a lot of times I get really tired of it and wonder why I continue. Other times I enjoy it and remember why I put this whole site together in the first place. Basically what I am trying to get across is that non forum members nominations are just as valid. We are fans. They are fans. No e-mail messages have been repeats and as you can see by the list there has already been a huge array of choices. I probably shouldn't have made the comment about the low number of Droids nominations because it probably came off as complaining and nothing tempts me to quit Star Wars fan sites more than the constant complaining that goes on. I guess I'm guilty myself. Anyway, I understand that what I am doing here will not please everyone, but I anticipated that. So like I said, it is as it is.

When you put it in that light and that perspective, I can see and understand why you have it the way it is. I certainly don't want to over-emphasise the hobby as being only one way or exclusive to a forum if it would mean a lot of bitter dispute or complaining. As you say, it's only plastic figures. I don't wish to come across as one of those adamant Star Wars nerds who dispute trivial matters. I too have collected since 1983. Part of the fun as a collector is meeting with other collectors and seeing and encouraging young kids. If you make too big a deal out of something, it derails that fun. so I retract my previous statement!
*Also Kneesaa and Chukha-Trok seem to be top condenders on sevral sites! Here's to hoping!

I simply think we should have discussed it before the voting began - having a discussion or questioning the results isnt complaining and shouldnt be a reason to leave a hobby. The more we discuss it the better the vote and results will be. I agree that we could have limited the vote to Droids, Ewoks, and Ewok movie characters, and maybe we should have because Hasbro wanted nominations from the members on the sites - the Fans Choice vote is whats open to the public, this is just the nomination phase.

When it comes to the vote on our site, I can see a number of characters that have inflated votes, because certain people are going from site-to-site and pushing certain characters. I just want the vote to be fair, and I want the members of Droids and Ewoks to have their voice heard - we're the ones that keep this site alive...
